We are fortunate to have Mandaza return to Ontario to offer teachings, gatherings and a retreat. Mandaza has a precious way of inspiring us to take action in becoming the change we wish to see in the world. Here is a video created on his 2008 tour through Ontario with interviews of participants of the retreat at Northern Edge. They share the inspiration they received from participating in the retreat http://www.shamanismcanada.com/blog/2008/12/what-is-peace-mandaza-retreat-video/

Please read these words from Diane Longboat, Mohawk Medicine Woman from Six Nations about this opportunity

‘The Era of Living Spirit’: Message from Diane Longboat – Mohawk Medicine Woman from Six Nations.

The world has shifted on its axis, the ice caps and glaciers are melting. The world climate change is felt now upon all of humanity and all of our relatives living within the web of life. There has been much time spent on teaching and developing our spiritual strength. Now is the time for action to bring Spirit into daily living…living spirit. Your time with Mandaza is a precious gift of renewal and visioning for your role in birthing the new mind guided by the Spirit in all things of life. Take the time to feed your spirit.”

Although appointments and the circle is full in Toronto there is still the following opportunities:

http://shamanismcanada.com/mandaza.html

World Drum
The World Drum is coming to the Edge July 2-4th! This is a rare opportunity to feel the pulse of this sacred drum that has traveled throughout the world and be part of a living ceremony bringing peace and healing to our selves, Mother Earth and the sacred waters of life. The World drum will likely not be in Canada again for some time, and we are honoured to host the drum and create ceremony that will help shift consciousness on our planet in this precious time we are now living.

“We ask you to cast, anchor, and hold the Net of Light (Crystalline Grid) steady for the Gulf of Mexico,” the Grandmothers said. “This crisis is affecting the entire world, and humanity is asleep. Wake up!” they cried. “Animals are dying, plants are dying, and your Mother is writhing in agony. If you hold the Net of Light steady at this time you will help stave off further catastrophe.

“You have been lulled into a false sleep,” they said, “told that others (B.P.) will take care of this problem. This is not so,” they said. “And this is not the time for you to fall into oblivion. Determine now to stay awake, and once you have made that commitment, think of, cast, and hold the Net of Light. Hold it deep and hold it wide. Amplify its reach to penetrate the waters of the Gulf and dive deep beneath the crust of Mother Earth. Anchor it at the earth’s core and as you hold it there, ask it to unify with the mineral kingdom of this planet. It will do this and will harmonize with all the solid and liquid mineral states on earth-including oil and gas. The Net of Light will call these minerals back into harmony.

“Whatever human beings have damaged, human beings must correct,” the Grandmothers said. “This is the law. We repeat: This is the law. You cannot sit back and ask God to fix the mess humanity has created. Each of you must throw your shoulders to the wheel and work. We are asking for your help. Several years ago we gave you the Net of Light so you would be able to help the earth at times like this. Step forward now. This is the Net of Light that will hold the earth during the times of change that are upon you,” they said.
“First move into your heart and call on us. We will meet you there. The Net of Light is lit by the jewel of your heart,” they said, “so move into this lighted place within you and open to the Net of which you are a part. Bask in its calming presence. It holds you at the same time that you hold it.

“Now think of magnifying your union with us. We, the Great Council of the Grandmothers, are with you now, and all those who work with the Net of Light are also with you. There are thousands, even millions now connected in light,” they said. “Along with this union, call forth the power of the sacred places on earth. These will amplify the potency of our joint effort. Then call on the sacred beings that have come to prevent the catastrophe that threatens to overwhelm your planet. We will work together,” they said, nodding slowly.

“Think of, cast and magnify the presence of the Net of Light in the Gulf of Mexico. See, imagine or think of it holding the waters, holding the land, the plants, the sea life, and the people. Holding them all!” they said. “The Net of Light is holding them steady; it is returning them to balance. Let the love within your lighted heart keep pouring into the Net of Light and hold, hold, hold. Calmly and reverently watch as the light from your heart flows along the strands of the Net. It will follow your command and continuously move forth. As soon as you think of it, it will happen. We ask you to practice this for only a few minutes at a time, but to repeat it throughout the day and night.

“We promise that this work with the Net of Light will do untold good,” the Grandmothers said. “We are calling you to service now. You are needed. Do not miss this opportunity. We thank you and bless you.”

Mandaza Augustine Kandemwa is a nganga, a Bantu shaman or medicine man, in the Shona and Ndebele traditions of Zimbabwe. He carries with great heart the Central African tradition of healing and peacemaking. Mandaza regularly travels North America providing an opportunity for people to gather to experience an indigenous understanding of the interrelatedness of healing, peacemaking and community.

People come to Mandaza from all over southern Africa to receive healing and initiation. He does not charge for his services. In Africa people try to offer a donation in return for his healing work, but he works with the poorest of the poor, who have sometimes walked great distances to be with him, and it is more likely that he will have to feed them than that they will not be able to pay him. Between Mandaza and Simakuhle, his wife, they have many children and a large kinship network and community that are dependent upon them for food and spiritual nourishment.

A former anti-apartheid activist from Zimbabwe, Mandaza is one of the truly exceptional men of our time, a warm and generous teacher and healer with magnificent gifts and an entourage of spirits, a man of deep and profound love, laughter and wisdom. Educated in the western traditions of what was then colonial-era, Rhodesia, Mandaza was called by the ancestors to the old ways and taught the exceptional art and craft of being a true healer. He has the skill to look into an individuals’ heart, even if he has not met them before, and thereby awaken the process of initiation that removes the obstacles between the initiate and the spirits.

Mandaza taught about peace-making and offered his healing services at Northern Edge Algonquin in August of 2008. He sat down for an interview to talk about his beliefs in this video. Some of the participants of the program also shared their experiences in this video.

“Tatenda” http://www.ihcenter.org/groups/tatenda.html – is a non-profit organization committed to supporting and sustaining traditional healers and their communities in Africa (was previously the Nanga Project). This is the project supporting Mandaza’s work, his family and the community around him in Zimbabwe as well as to fostering exchange between different indigenous healers and western culture. When visiting communities in North America, the core group coordinating Tatenda (all on a volunteer basis) encourage and support donations to the Tatenda Project to support Mandaza and his Daré in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
